In renaming our practice to Capital Primary Care, we have
expanded our services to go beyond that of a typical primary care
office. Many primary care physicians (PCP’s) play the role of
physician gatekeeper, however, not many offer the extent of
services which we can provide.

In addition, we provide common services which include routine
vaccinations for influenza, pneumonia and tetanus, as well as newer
vaccines such as zostavax (shingles), gardisil (cervical cancer),
Adacel (adult pertussis) and Menactra (newer meningitis). We also
offer in-office pulmonary function testing, electrocardiography and
in-office lab testing with immediate results for anticoagulation
(warfarin), influenza, strep, and pregnancy testing.
Existing patients:
Please read the 2008-2009 Influenza Vaccine Information Statement
and fill out the Flu Vaccine Consent form before coming to the office
to receive your Flu shots. You may sign and submit on line.
Capital Primary Care is also conveniently located within minutes
from a laboratory capable of stat lab results as well as radiography
with stat interpretations.
Dr. Toupin also provides numerous dermatologic procedures
including skin biopsies, nail avulsions and matricectomy (toenail
ablation), excisions and cryotherapy for precancerous skin lesions.
He also uses a radiofrequency device made by Ellman®
International, Inc. capable of skin lesion removal and ablation with
optimal cosmetic results. He will provide care for simple skin
lacerations which would otherwise require emergency room
treatment. .
Dr. Toupin can also perform nasal endoscopy to assist in the
diagnosis of upper repiratory complaints such as nasal obstruction,
nosebleed or sinusitis.
He has focused much attention towards the diagnosis and treatment
of sleep disorders such as Sleep Apnea Syndrome and offers
screening with overnight oximetry studies at no charge.
In treating painful disorders, Dr. Toupin offers nerve blocks for
carpal tunnel syndrome and occipital neuralgia (headache
syndrome). In addition he offers intra-articular therapy for
osteoarthritis with corticosteroids as well as Sodium Hyaluronate
and Hyalan injections for osteoarthritis of the knee. Additional
areas which can be treated with corticosteroid injections include the
hip bursa, elbow, shoulder (rotator cuff and glenohumeral joint),
wrist (DeQuervain’s syndrome) for tendonitis as well as flexor
tendon injections for trigger finger.
Dr. Toupin’s career began in a multispecialty group in San Diego,
California from 1993 to 2002 during which he worked alongside a
rheumatologist who provided insight into treating these and other
painful rheumatologic disorders.
